As a relatively new user of AI tools like MS Co-Pilot and Chat-GPT, I am enthusiastic about their potential to enhance the efficiency of the more tactical aspects of my role. This increased efficiency has, in turn, expanded my capacity to lead and serve my team.

Here are a few ways I have utilized these tools so far:
    • Researching Key Topics: For an upcoming project involving Azure solutions, I used AI to gather high-level summaries, primary uses, and key considerations. The conversational format and iterative Q&A made this process far more effective than a standard Google search.
    • Creating an Azure Dashboard: I needed to create a dashboard to provide my team with quicker access to key data points. When I struggled with the proper query, Co-Pilot suggested a query that worked perfectly on the first try.
    • Generating Design Templates: For a project requiring a high volume of design templates, I used Co-Pilot to expedite the creation process. Despite my lack of experience with Python, Co-Pilot provided a script and step-by-step instructions, enabling me to generate over 50 templates in less than five seconds.
    • Editing Communications: Co-Pilot has been instrumental in refining my communications, ensuring they are concise and appropriately toned.

That’s a pretty good list Bob. About how much time per week would you say you save now relative to your prior way of doing things?

Thanks for asking, Mike! I’m still in the early stages of integrating this into my daily and weekly tasks, so I don’t have specific stats on the average time saved per week just yet. However, I’m confident that AI has great potential to boost my effectiveness as an IT professional by speeding up my work and the support I can offer my team. Looking forward to discovering more ideas and learning about the potential others are seeing through this post.
